TAILOR MADE GUIDED GROUP TOURS
Israel example itinerary 1
We depart our UK airport for our overnight flight to Tel Aviv.
We arrive in Tel Aviv at 5:15 in the morning and transfer to Ein-Gev kibbutz in Tiberias for 3 nights. Once we have checked in, we have time for a late breakfast. At 15:00 we are met by a guide for a small tour of Magdala. The tour should only be 1.5 hours.
This morning we visit to the Jesus Boat at Nof Ginosar beside the Sea of Galilee, and then return to Tiberias to sail by replica wooden boat to Capernaum on the north shore. We continue by coach to the Mount of the Beatitudes, before visiting the river Jordan and Banias (the biblical Caesarea Philippi), returning via the Golan Heights to view Syria at a distance. Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.
Today we travel to Nazareth to worship with Arab Christians at the Local Baptist Church. After the service we have lunch, followed by a brief visit to Mary’s Well, and the Synagogue Church, before we travel to Megiddo and Gan Hashlosha (Gideon’s Springs). Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.
We depart Tiberias, travelling along the Jordan Valley, briefly stopping at Bethany beyond the Jordan (Qasr al-Yahud) associated with John the Baptist. Next we visit Qumran (where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered), and have an opportunity to float in the Dead Sea. We drive along the Dead Sea shore to King David’s mountain stronghold of Ein Gedi and then on to Masada, Herod’s desert fortress, which we ascend by cable car. We check in to our hotel in Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
We start our time in Jerusalem by visiting the Haas Promenade for a spectacular panoramic view of Jerusalem from the south, before travelling to Yad Vashem (the Holocaust Museum) and the Israel Museum (model of 1st century Jerusalem and the Shrine of the Book). Lunch. In the afternoon we visit the Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane. From Gethsemane we drive via Bethany to the Judean desert to visit Abraham’s Tent at Genesis Land, where you can experience an optional camel ride (additional cost).
Today is a leisurely walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem. We enter through the Jaffa Gate to walk the walls from David’s Citadel to the Dung Gate. We visit the Hulda Gates of the biblical temple, continue to the Western Wall and then enter the Temple Mount (viewing the exterior of the El Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock). We stop for lunch, before strolling back through the narrow streets of the Old City to the Church of Holy Sepulchre, returning to the Jaffa Gate. We end the day travelling a short distance by coach to the Garden Tomb, overlooking Gordon’s Calvary before returning to our hotel. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
For our final day in Jerusalem, we drive a short distance to have an opportunity of seeing Montefiore Windmill and St Andrews Church of Scotland (where there will be a short talk on four Free Church of Scotland leaders who visited Jerusalem in 1839). We then visit Christ Church, Jerusalem, the oldest Protestant (Anglican) church in the city, where we have lunch. Return to our hotel. The remainder of the day is free, with a chance to relax or do some shopping in the Old City and pack for an early morning start.
We have an early start for our flight to London Heathrow.
