From here we travel through the Judean hills for our dinner and overnight in Jerusalem at the Seven Arches Hotel.

Day 7 – Tuesday 16 October 2018
We enter the Old City of Jerusalem and ascend the Temple Mount to view the El Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock (view from the outside only as non-Muslims are not permitted to enter them) before stopping at the Western Wall and visiting the Western Wall Tunnels. (Here shorts or 3/4 leggings/trousers are required, plus old trainers or sandals, tee shirt with short sleeves, etc, as Hezekiah’s tunnel has water up to knee level. It should take 25 minutes to walk through and it’s advised only those with good mobility take part in this site as some bending/ducking will be needed to avoid collision with rocks, very narrow passages etc.)

From here we walk to the Pool of Bethesda and then follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (one of the two sites recognized as the place of Calvary and the resurrection of Jesus – most of the archeological evidence supports this site) and the Cardo. Then we leave the Old City to end the day at the tranquil Garden Tomb (the other major site of Calvary – traditionalists believe this to be the place due to its story and more spiritual nature). Dinner and overnight in Seven Arches Hotel Jerusalem.

Day 8 – Wednesday 17 October 2018
We remain in Jerusalem and drive to the Mount of Olives (the place where Jesus ascended into Heaven – Acts 1:12, and shall return – Zechariah 14:4) where we have a panoramic view of the Old City and visit the garden of Garden of Gethsemane (the place where Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot and arrested by the Romans – John 18). From there we travel to Machane Yehuda food market to experience the smells and delights of Israeli food, and then on to Ein Kerem which is the birthplace of John the Baptist.

Later we visit Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum; this will no doubt be a very emotional experience for everyone. We then move on for a short stop in Bethlehem*. In the evening, we enjoy The Night Spectacular, a sound and light show which tells of the story of Jerusalem amidst the archaeological remains of the Tower of David. Dinner and overnight in Seven Arches Hotel Jerusalem.
